About Gus
Introducing Gus, who was adopted out of BFPR about a year ago, one of a large lot of dachshund crosses that we rescued from a hoarder. He’s just come back to us for rehoming due to his owner becoming ill.
Gus is medium-sized, having the shape of a dachshund but the colouring of a cattle dog. His ears are one of each!!
Gus is comfortable with similar-sized dogs, but he chases cats. He barks (very loudly) at visitors and other strangers, vacuum cleaners, cats, the postie, and lawnmowers. He seems anxious amongst the hustle and bustle of city living and is much more of a country dog. His ideal home has another dog in it, no cats, and people who have calm and relaxed personalities who will let him cuddle up and not push him into scary situations like crowds and noisy walks along bus routes! He is housetrained and much prefers being inside with people instead of in the backyard. He will go outside to do his business and then bangs on the door to be let back in.
Gus is located in WAGGA WAGGA, a five-hour drive from Sydney or Melbourne. The successful applicant will need to collect him from Wagga. This pet will come vaccinated, desexed, and microchipped, but council registrstion - if required in your state or territory - is not included in the adoption fee.
Adoption details
Our goal is to match pets' personalities and exercise/training requirements with people whose lifestyle they are best suited to. This reduces the chances of the pet winding up in a pound again. Please don't feel offended by our adoption process, it is for everyone's and every animal's benefit:
1. Submit application for adoption (obtain at Best Friends Pet Rescue website).
2. Homechecks are conducted on short-listed approved applicant(s).
3. Best match selected according to the pet's personality and needs.
4. Successful applicant notified, and must place holding deposit while transport/pickup arrangements made.
