About Peyton
** PURRFECT PEYTON - PUSSY CAT OR PUPPY DOG???**
As a rescue that specialises in deaf dogs, any deaf cats that come into care are known as ‘honorary canines’. Peyton has taken this label very seriously and since arriving in care late last year has done everything possible to prove he is a small fluffy dog...
Given the choice of hanging out with cats or dogs, Peyton picks dogs every time. He loves interacting with all the big dogs in his foster home and wherever they are, he wants to be too. He loves rolling in the dirt, sprawls out like a dog when he’s laying down, is happy to roll on damp grass when he's given the chance and prefers drinking from the dog's water bowls. Don't let his feline face fool you - underneath the kitty cat exterior is most definitely a deaf dog!
Peyton is quite a character and is well-suited to a home looking for a quirky feline addition who does have all the standard traits of a kitty but who can substitute easily for a dog!
Peyton is around 2 years old and came into care with HNE after finding himself in a NSW pound. He’d been picked up as a stray after being hit by a car. Peyton has recovered well from his injuries that were primarily to his hind legs. He doesn't jump up on things very often which is a legacy of his injuries (and not necessarily a bad thing given the frustration most cat owners have when it comes to keeping the paws of their feline friends on the floor!). It’s possible that later in life Peyton will experience some arthritis in his hind legs but for now, he’s moving well and his vets are happy with how he’s recovered.
Peyton is litter trained and cat-social. As a deaf cat he is rather loud when he meows and purrs – it’s always easy to tell when Peyton is happy or when he wants something!
Peyton is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.
For his safety and to protect his pink nose and ears, Peyton requires an indoor-only home or one with a secure, suitably sheltered cat enclosure.
Peyton is currently located in Brisbane, QLD. Interstate adoption is available, with transport costs payable by the adopter.
