About Toby and Troy
WE WILL BE AT THE RSPCA BIG ADOPT OUT ON THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER AT THE BRISBANE RNA SHOWGROUNDS. Toby and Troy are an inseparable pair of terriers who just love life. They are social, active and happy dogs. They enjoy a walk, love to play with toys and very little can curb their joy for life. Toby is 12 and Troy is 8.
The boys are as sweet as they come, truly good natured dogs. They were loved by their previous owner however he moved in with family and was unable to bring his dogs. This is such a sad scenario as Toby and Troy are now homeless in their twilight years.
We suspect Toby is starting to suffer early stages of dementia. He can be anxious in new scenarios and will require some patience to settle him into his new home. However, give him a week and he begins to relax. Upheaval is hard on an old dog and the last few months have been full of stress and unfamiliar places and people.
Troy is a great dog all round - he loves a ball game and a romp around the garden. He is Toby's stability and Toby needs Troy very much. Troy has some scarring on his face from being hit by a car as a younger dog but this causes no issue now.
Toby and Troy are great with kids and other small dogs. They can be anxious around large dogs but have lived happily with a border collie. Troy and Toby are not cat-friendly - they can't resist a chase. They are also unsuitable for a home with birds, chooks or pocket pets due to their terrier nature. Please check out Toby and Troy's video.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Troy has luxating patellas however he is not at all bothered by this condition. He runs and plays freely and for this reason we decided not to operate. He is such a happy and active dog that we believe surgery would do more harm than good at this point.
Toby suffered a major seizure in January. We followed up with comprehensive blood tests, eye tests, a CSF tap and a CT Scan. Nothing abnormal was found. Our hope is that this seizure was a once off event. He takes daily pain medication for his back.
