About Halo
** HANDSOME, HAPPY HALO **
Our beautiful 6 month old border collie x koolie Halo is now officially available for adoption. Halo arrived in care late last year and settled perfectly into his foster home. From the minute he arrived, he was happy. Happy with people, happy with dogs, happy alone, happy sleeping, happy playing – he’s just always been happy! Even having to undergo the removal of one of his eyes due to complications with microphthalmia didn’t stop Halo from being continually happy.
What would make us extra-happy is to find an adoptive home that will make sure that Halo gets all the love, care and continued training he needs to make sure he remains a very happy dog.
Along with being handsome, Halo is a clever young boy. He knows sit, come and stay in both sign and touch commands he also knows drop and shake in touch commands. Halo is crate trained and toilet trained. Halo’s leash manners are progressing nicely. Halo is a fast learner and is very eager to please.
As a working breed, Halo is a high-energy dog. He requires a family committed to ensuring he receives the physical exercise he needs as well as appropriate mental stimulation – much of this mental stimulation will be through ongoing training, but puzzle toys, treat toys, Noweworks, etc are all great ways to give Halo a chance to apply his clever mind to things.
Halo loves other dogs and is eager to meet and play with new canine pals. He’s great with dogs of all sizes but he prefers those in the tiny to large spectrum – sometimes he’s still surprised at just how big some giant dogs can be! Halo would do best in a home with another friendly canine pal, ideally one with a laid back temperament.
Halo's hasn't got any direct lived experience with cats. However, so far he's shown that with the cats he has encountered out and about and in other people's homes that he can be on a loose leash and is happy to watch any cats from a safe distance. Careful introductions and appropriate supervision in the early days would be important to help Halo settle into an adoptive home with any resident felines. Halo is untested with pocket pets and poultry.
Halo loves people in general, including kids but as he’s still a bouncy puppy he sometimes forgets he’s not meant to jump up on people so is best suited to a home with kids aged 7 or older.
Halo is equally happy to lay at your feet or run round the yard with a toy. Speaking of feet... Halo’s biggest quirk is his foot fetish... He has a habit of pushing his way under your legs when you’re sitting down so you end up using him as a foot rest while he attempts to lick/nibble your feet… Judging by the doggy grin he has on his face whenever he does this, he thinks it's the best thing ever!!
Halo is located in Melbourne, VIC. Interstate adoption is available, with transport costs payable by the adopter.

Medical notes
Halo is deaf. He also has microphthalmia. His right eye was removed due to complications with his microphthalmima. He has reasonable vision in his left eye, but has been trained with touch commands.
Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application. Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability and a discussion will be scheduled with shortlisted applicants.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
