About Northern
Great ‘Northern'
Better than the beer.
I had a pretty rough start with my brother, but thanks to my fairy dog mother, we got given another chance. I am a happy, healthy & energetic little snuggle bug with a heart of gold. I love playing with my foster brother and sisters. You can often find me cuddles up with my big foster brother, taking up all his bed. I love cuddling on the couch with the humans just as much. I love my food and will eat the pattern off the bowl if you let me. I am going to make a family very happy one day... Until then, I’m waiting.
You may see that in some photos my skin is red and sore. Don't let this affect you too much as I sure don't let it affect me. The red skin is a result of Dermodex - a skin condition caused by mites. It is treatable and is being treated. Unfortunately, this is due to neglect and I came into care like this. Because I was so sick, it got worse before it could get any better. But I take my medication like a good boy and I have baths a few times a week in Malaseb to help clear my skin. There will be no long term effects from this at all. I am so lucky to have such an awesome foster family look after me!
I spend my days outside, but sleep inside in a crate at night time. I love my crate and I don't make any noise until the morning when it is time to go outside to do wees. I love playing with the dogs I live with, and they all help me to grow more and more confident every day. I am still shy and timid and worried, but every day I get a little bit braver.
I live with cats and tiny humans and I love everyone.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
