*NO MORE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED* *ON TRIAL* If you could distill sunshine, hugs and warm cocoa, add a pinch of childhood innocence and gift-wrap it in soft, cuddly wool you would have Max. Max is a real life teddy bear who you’ll never want to stop cuddling - which is convenient because that’s all that Max wants. Love, love and lots more love, which just happens to be what he also emits.

Sadly, this little man, a purebred miniature Poodle, has had a tough life and bears the scars with his fear of men. Many dogs would display this with teeth gnashing and body trembling, but not Max. He just tries to pretend they’re not there most of the time. Sometimes he will offer them a small lick as if it’s a token of apology for his avoidance, but he’ll soon-after find the lap of a safer person - a female.

For this reason I’m looking for female-only homes, where he will feel comfortable. Many a man has tried to win him over, but his scars just run too deep, sadly.

Max loves to lick you and place his paws clumsily and repeatedly on your lap in an effort to instigate a gentle game. If you’re too busy, that’s ok, he’ll suffice with staring at you dreamily with a big grin on his face.

Max is a sensitive little soul who needs a gentle touch. When he gets anxious he can pace and he doesn’t like to be left alone for too long: his chosen person is far too important to him.

This boy is mostly toilet trained, but will need supervision intitially as he settles in to his new home. He is mostly good off-leash at the park, but he needs to be watched carefully because If he loses sight of you he will panic and run.

Max loves other dogs and especially other poodles! I can only assume they were once his primary companions. If you have another dog, it must be small, kind and gentle just like Max. He is intimidated by cats, so he’d prefer a cat-free home.

Max has just had his birthday and at the age of just five, he has a very long time to spend with you as this breed is known for its longevity.
