About River ~ Rottweiler (on trial 19/3/2018)
Everyone say hello to the beautiful River. River is a 10 month old purebred Rottweiler and comes all her papers. River is a gentle giant, who just wants to be loved. She is an amazing dog who unfortunately has not been well socialised and is looking for a family that are really willing to spend the time helping her to overcome some of her fears.
River currently lives with 2 other dogs and loves to play and wrestle with them, she would be well suited to a couple or family that have another dog to play with her, keep her company and help her with her socialisation skills. River is an inside/outside dog and loves having a play and roll around in the back yard but also loves to come inside and be a part of the family, sit by your feet and have a snooze. While she is a large dog, River sleeps indoors and will only be considered for adoption by a family that is wanting to continue her sleeping routine.
River can be very timid and nervous when first meeting new people, especially men and new dogs and will need to be paired with a family/couple that are really willing and committed to her ongoing training and socialisation.
River can be very playful and excitable. She can be a bit of a goofball but loves to play around or just lay back and have a cuddle. River has been known to dig in the back yard if she becomes bored or left by herself for too long. An active family or couple would be well suited to her needs.
River is fantastic with young children once she is comfortable in her environment and is currently living with a 18 month old and a 3 year old, however her size and age must be taken into account upon application. River is also living with a cat and 2 birds and has shown no aggression at all towards either but is slightly interested in the birds. River can scare very easily and is very sensitive and timid she will need to be adopted by someone who is compassionate, kind and gentle.
River is not comfortable being left on her own for long periods of time and unfortunately won’t be considered for adoption by those who work full time. Due to River not being socialised she will really need a lot of attention and training for this reason she will only be consider for local adoption at
this stage. River is looking for someone that wants to make her a part of their family and include her is daily activities and weekend outings.
River is still learning and is very intelligent; she is house trained and very rarely has accidents. She is very loyal and will following you all around the house if given the chance. She is very protective
of those she loves and is wanting to be a member of a loving family. If you are looking for a loyal, trusting, protective loving member of the family then river is the dog for you.
For more information or to meet River, please contact her foster carer Claire on Claire.pleym@gmail.com. River is in foster care in Thornton, NSW and is not available for adoption interstate.
River’s adoption fee is $600 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
