I’m 10 months old and am best described as a big lovable puppy in an adult-sized body. When I first meet you or if haven’t seen you in a few hours my whole back half doesn’t stop moving. I just can’t help jumping up to say hi. My carer tells me this is probably something I should stop doing because I’m nearly 40kg but what can I say...I love greeting people at eye level, it’s only polite isn’t it? Little humans are far too small for me to play with, I enjoy the company of the bigger adult ones though.
I’ve learnt a lot in the last couple of weeks. I can sit, shake, drop and wait for my food. The odd schmako or two always helps me understand these tricks even better! My new owners will definitely need to keep up my training as I’m young and a little boisterous.
At night I prefer to be indoors because all the noises in the dark could be trying to get into the yard and I need to protect my family from the noises by telling them off. My carer has me inside after she finishes work, I like to lie in the kitchen while she cooks, sometimes scraps drop on the floor and I’m happy to clean those up for her. I sleep in a crate at night which I don’t mind at all.
I try to make friends with all dogs I see but sometimes I get too excited and they tell me off, I don’t know what do to with myself, I mostly bark and run in circles. My carer puts this special lead on me that tightens at my front legs when I pull. I’m glad she uses it as she tells me it makes me a better dog and that’s what I strive to be. In the yard with my doggy mates I do like to wrestle and play rough so I play best with larger non-dominant dogs but I’m friendly with small dogs too. Cats and pocket pets are greatttt to chase. I’ve heard I’m not supposed to do that but I can’t help myself so best I avoid those.
The best times of the day are when the humans sit on the couch and I get to be face to face with them. I love a good lean in, especially when you scratch my head and neck. Be warned: if you stop scratching and patting me, I will use my paw to drag your arm closer to me because your world should revolve around giving me affection. If you’re lucky I might also climb onto your lap and keep you warm (even in summer).
I enjoy a good robust discussion. If I don’t like your opinion or you aren’t fast enough to let me inside, I’ll certainly let you know.
My carer is a nice lady and all but I want to be in a house with a big yard and perhaps even a brother or sister to play with during the day.
Yogi is crate trained.
