About Barney and Charlie
Dogs love company and close companionship, so what could be better than adopting a bonded pair? This lovely duo of dogs are just delightful. They are affectionate, friendly and eager to please. They love everyone they meet and being a joy to all. Charlie and Barney are also good with Cats, in fact Charlie will go out of her way to give the feline members a kiss.
Charlie is a girl - a fluffy Jack Russel x sweetheart. Barney is a gorgeous Shih Tzu x boy. They both have lovely soft coats and will be the perfect couch-buddies as the weather cools down!
Unfortunately, Charlie and Barney's owners had to rehome them due to an interstate move. It was certainly no fault of the dogs. They were very loved by their previous family and we know they'll be just as loved by the family who adopt them. Who wouldn't love these two?
Charlie and Barney love the beach. They have a ball getting sandy and salty and aren't afraid of the surf at all. If you don't live near the beach, thats okay too as the local park is just as fun. As long as they're together, there's sure to be good times.
Please consider offering a home to this lovely pair, you won't regret it.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Charlie and Barney both have severely rotten teeth when they came into care and required major dental surgeries. They have recovered well.
Charlie is 11 years old and she has a heart murmur. We have had her assessed by our vets very thoroughly and she does not require heart medication at this stage.
Barney is 12 years old and he has collapsing trachea. This means he does cough a bit. We have done incredibly thorough diagnostic investigation including a scope and testing fluid samples from his lungs. Our vets have advised that the best management of this condition is for him to lose weight, eat slowing and take a rest when he does have a coughing incident. He takes some antacid with his food which helps with regurgitation and eats from a slow feed bowl.
Despite both Barney and Charlie being older dogs with medical conditions, they are happy and active. We believe they deserve not to be overlooked for their age.
