Vera the tortoiseshell munchkin cat!
friendly pretty munchkin
Female Domestic Short Hair x Munchkin Cat
- Rescue group:
- Cat People of Melbourne
- PetRescue ID:
Vera wandered away from her home and was lost, and ended up at the pound. She didn’t cope very well at all and was taken into care with Cat People. After such a horrible first four years, we are determined to find her the best home with the best humans who look after her and love her for the rest of her life.
Vera may only be 4 years old but she is like a little old lady. She has a croaky, husky meow and it sounds like she's saying 'Noooo' all the time! When we say she's like a little old lady, we mean that she isn't like a normal, super active 4 year old cat. She's more low key; she grumbles a lot (talking?) and always looks like she's frowning!
She loves being outside in the foster carers cat enclosure and her short legs don't seem to stop her from climbing cat trees or getting up into the garden. She also loves using the scratching post so anyone who adopts will need to invest in a couple of good ones for her.
Vera uses her litter tray very well and more than anything in the whole world, she just LOVES to cuddle. The foster carer said “Last night I picked her up and sat on the lounge and she just lay on my chest while I scratched her chubby little face. She was purring so loud and nuzzling into my hands.” Vera is getting along well with the foster carer's small cat friendly dog and her other cat. Vera has not been tested with children.
We are all so in love with Vera already and someone will be extremely lucky to have her as their pet. Vera must be kept as an indoor only cat with an enclosure, due to her short legs, she may be unable to escape danger like normal cats but she loves being outdoors, so outdoor enclosure would be ideal for her.
Vera has recently had some major dental work with some extractions (this can be quite common with pure breeds) and is overweight. We are working with the vets and carer to get her eating properly and get her weight down to take the stress off her back and legs, this regimen and regular vet checks will need to be continued by whoever adopts her.
Vera has been desexed, microchipped (microchip # 956000010292396), vaccinated, wormed and flea treated.
To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a house check done, show 100 points of ID and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Deposits are accepted to hold cats & kittens before adoption - this deposit is not refundable (instalment payments can be arranged with the coordinator to pre-approved adopters).
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
Adoptions can be done with a two week foster to adopt arrangement for adult cats only.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion
Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
