About Hamish ~ Schnauzer X (on trial 18/2/2018))
Absolutely gorgeous is the best way to describe Hamish, a 6 month old Schnauzer x. It’s difficult to describe how great he is.
He is:
· Always happy and loves everyone he meets.
· Hamish is gentle around children and just loves their attention.
· The cuddles he gives are huge. Somehow, he seems to wrap you up in love.
· Playing with his toys is a daily must (though he does like to spread them around the house and yard).
· Hamish enjoys going for a walk and enjoys meeting other friendly 4 legged friends along the way.
· Playing with another like-minded dog is a sight to see. Crazy is one way to describe it.
· Hamish is perfectly toilet trained. He sleeps inside on his comfortable bed and goes out the doggy door if he needs to toilet.
· He is a quiet dog, he only seems to bark when someone comes to the door.
· Luckily, Hamish isn’t destructive or a digger. Though he did enjoy playing with a paper towel roll when it was left in his reach.
Despite all the amazing things about Hamish, he is still a puppy and has all his puppy ways about him. At the moment he isn’t too happy being locked outside of the house away from the family. He is used to being with a family who were home a great deal. When they were gone they happily left him inside, knowing he was able to go outside anytime he wishes.
Hamish does feel a bit uncomfortable in the car at the moment, we believe it’s a new experience for him and he should get more comfortable when gets used to it.
Hamish is suitable for adoption by a wide range of people. His ideal family would be active and enjoy taking him to places, such as a dog friendly park or beach. He is used to a morning walk and will wake up his family with a cuddle if they forget or are a bit late.
Continuing to socialise him with other dogs is an essential part of his training, he can sit when asked but needs further training which is typical of a dog of six months of age.
At the moment he is being cared for in Floraville, NSW 2280 in a household with 2 other dogs and a cat. If you are an active person or family, who spends a good deal of time at home and are interested in adopting Hamish, please contact Jason or Karen Scott on jk88scott@gmail.com or 02 400 911 63. Hamish is not available for interstate adoption.
Hamish’s adoption fee is $700 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
