About Kaiya
Hi my name is Kaiya. Sadly I need a new home as my family are moving overseas and they can’t have a dog where they are going.
I will get some better photo's taken soon.
I’ve lived with children from babies to a toddler and I’m wonderful with them. I love living the city life and visiting cafe’s and the beach as I get patted by everyone and I really like that. I’m an inside dog and house trained, I don’t like dogs rushing up at me, I don’t like it when they have rude manners like that and will tell them so, I don’t like sharing my ball at the park with them either, they can get their own ball :)
I love chasing the ball, it is the best, I love cuddles on the couch, I’m a huge cuddler and I love every human I meet. I’m not destructive and I wont even chew up your shoes or dig up your garden.
I’m protective of the children but not in an aggressive way.
I have got a grass allergy and need medication daily so unless you can pay for that please don’t apply for me.
Below are the medical notes from my current owner. I’m on Apoquel 16mg 100 Tablets $255.50 for the bottle. - takes half a day = $1.28 per day = $38 per month. It took a year working closely with a vet to figure out which medication she needed for her allergy. We think her former family surrendered her because of her allergy and probably inability to figure out how to cure it, as the very seasoned vet at Lort Smith struggled to find an answer. We worked arduously to figure out what she was allergic to, and how to fix it, and were luckily very successful. Apoquel is the wonder cure for her and removes all symptoms, but if she skips more than one dose, she'll start itching herself til she bleeds. Therefore, anyone adopting her has to 100% be on board with sticking with this medication and paying $38/month for her grass allergy. She's a normal dog with the medicine - can do anything any other dog can do.
I’m a lovely girl so I hope my medication doesn’t put you off of adopting me :(
My behavioural assessment will be done in the next few weeks and until I go to a new home I can stay with my current owners but they are leaving to move overseas in June so hopefully I will get a new home before then.
So if you think you can offer me a good forever home where you’ll be able to give me all the above, and, in return, I’ll give you all the love and loyalty you could ask for! Please go to www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au where you will find the Adoption Application. Please make sure you read all the information on the Adoption page, as well as the links at the bottom.
