About Queenie
Queenie has been in care for about a month and now becoming such a character and now she can play & be herself her personality is coming through - Very big personality and very gentle old soul.
Queenie is still reactive (just scared) to other dogs on walks especially if they are reactive or bark at her, but is getting better, she just needs to built trust and confidence. She was in a home with her sister before she came to us, where she was showing signs of littermate syndrome (overbonding with her sibling) and therefore missed quite a lot of her socialisation period. Therefore Queenie will need a nice calm non reactive male doggy friend.d
Queenie is very rough and playful once she relaxes and learns to trust her doggy friends! Queenie still needs to put on some weight and is a very picky eater, what she eats hungrily today she turns her nose up at tomorrow. So she will need a home with someone who will dedicate time and money to a good quality diet. She can resource guard her food at times from other dogs which means she will need to be strictly supervised and separated from other dogs at meal times.
She is very kind and gentle with all humans, loves kids and once she gets to know other dogs she is fine with them. Not good with chickens or smaller animals. She has met a few cats from the distance but we would prefer a home with no cats.
Queenie demonstrates some separation distress when left home alone, so her ideal home is with a mellow male dog or someone who is home more often than not and someone who will be dedicated to work through. If she does not have another dog in the family, she will need someone who is home a lot or can take her with them most times when they do go somewhere. She seems not particularly fond of men, warms more to women and kids.
Queenie sits, drops, stays (short-term) and is getting to know "Leave it", "Outside" and "Gentle."
