Clarke

Clarke is an 18 month old border collie who we rescued from a puppy mill. Clarke had spent his short life chained and ignored - his sole purpose in life was to produce pretty puppies for pet shop windows.

His journey was so different from most of our other rescues - he had learned there were a few things he was allowed to do - eat, sleep and breed. Anything else terrified him.

So instead of training him all the things he shouldn't do we had to teach him it was ok to do all the things a normal dog can do. We basically had to teach him to be a dog :-(

Today's update from his carer :

Clarke has exceeded expectations, he has finally overcome his fear of the fridge and even sticks his nose in if he gets the chance.
Toys are now things to be enjoyed. fly spray and deodorant are still scary
Walking on the lead is still not perfect but there are so so many smells, he loves to take in.
Clarke loves people, other dogs and cats but not the barbie,
nope doesn't like that fellow at all.
He is such quick learner and where he was frightened of everything ( and I mean everything) , his fears are diminishing daily,
He will be dog park tested later this week and if all goes well will be available for meet and greets next week.

We are sure you understand that we are looking for a very very special family for this boy and our selection process needs to be carefully considered. We would love him to go to someone who has experience of his breed.
