About Milo
***ATTN: NSW/ACT***
We have a new PPRA boy to finally introduce to all of you – his name is Milo and he is a super special two year old with quite a tail to tell!
Milo came to us from a loving family who decided that surrendering him to us was the best decision for him – he has had some incredibly challenging eye problems and they were unable to keep up with the mounting vet bills. 😔
Poor Milo originally had a perforation to his right eye, however the treatment he received was ineffective. His family tried their best to repair the eye but to no avail. Milo’s eye became enlarged, heavily pigmented & developed glaucoma. You’ll see by the first few photos just how alarming the size difference was – so after coming to PPRA and seeing out wonderful vets, it was decided that his damaged eye would need to be removed, to ensure a good quality of life for Milo.
Our sweet boy was a total trooper through his surgery and is now a handsome, healthy ‘pirate pug’ ⚓🐶
In foster care we have been able to get to know more about Milo and are excited that he’s ready to find his forever home! He is energetic, affectionate and already toilet trained – is fantastic with children, even able to gently take treats from their hands and avoid jumping all over them! Milo loves cuddling and in true shadow-pug style, likes to follow you everywhere and be included in family outings and celebrations. 💕
Milo would thrive with a desexed four legged companion to run around with during the day and snuggle with during the night – however he is not so zen with cats or chickens. Can’t say he’s mastered the whole ‘personal space’ thing. With only one good eye left, a chicken peck or cat swipe probably is best avoided. 🚫🐈🐔
Milo loves soft squeaky toys (which help to curb his occasional chew fest) and daily walks on a leash in the coolest part of the day! His new home would be committed to providing Milo with a healthy lifestyle of exercise, good quality food and also fine with putting ointment in his remaining eye daily. Milo (like most pugs) is sensitive to the heat and his new home would allow Milo access to outside and inside so he can choose where is most comfortable. 😎

As you can imagine, Milo’s surgery was an extremely expensive one and ran into the thousands – we would never turn our backs on a pug in need, however we certainly feel the pinch of costly operations and it takes some time for us to recover financially to help more pugs in need. If you would like to contribute to help us pay Milo’s bills, please click on the link below to donate securely via PayPal on our website – every amount counts and any donation over $2 is tax deductable. Without your generosity we would be unable to do what we do 🙏😘
Medical notes
Milo will require ongoing eye ointment to ensure his remaining eye remains healthy.
