About Byron
Hi everyone, I am so pleased to meet you!
My name is Byron and I am an amazing dog. I was rescued from death row in Qld, after I was abandoned in the council pound. Thankfully the staff worked hard to get me to a rescue and I have been improving ever since I arrived. I wasn't coping well in the pound at all, I had large pressure sores, muscle wastage and a bit of lameness. My body tells a story that isn't a very nice one. It appears I have been confined to a small space for quite a while even before impoundment. I was very dehydrated and need to build up some extra muscle in my legs. Luckily for me, my carers and vet team are second to none and I have improved quickly. I got all my basic vet work completed, and fluids etc helped me tremendously. My carers are taking me on short walks to help me build muscle. I have a bright and healthy future ahead and am a very happy boy now.
I get along very well with other dogs, and children. I currently sleep outside, and am perfectly happy with that. I understand the rules of the house and am a very placid, gentle boy who just goes with the flow. I haven't met cats since coming into care.
I need a loving and happy home to spend my final years in. Is that with you?
Medical notes
Healthy and happy. Still needs to build up some more muscle in his back legs, so until then, short walks are encouraged, no long walks or running.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
