About Oscar ~ 6 year old Kelpie (on trial 16/2/2018)
This is Oscar. Oscar is a 6 year old Australian Kelpie who was bought as a sheep dog with his brother. His brother loved work but Oscar was afraid of the sheep so he had been confined to a small cage and let out an hour a day to be fed and have his cage cleaned.
Yet this has resulted in a very timid boy with an absolutely beautiful temperament. Oscar is one of the beautiful big softies we've come across. Oscar love his pats, he is very sensitive and will shy away very quickly if he feels he's in trouble, you move too quickly near him or if using something like a broom but as soon as he knows he's getting some affection he will glue himself to you.
He never jumps up on you but will chase your hand with his nose and bump it to let you know that he would please like some pats. He loves his walks and is great on a lead.
Due to Oscars timid nature he's very alert to any direction or command you give him, he wants to keep you happy and works hard at it but will shy away if he feels he's in trouble. He comes straight away when called, will sit, shake, lay down, wait, and is very responsive. But his favorite trick is to sneak up and curl up on the lounge for a cuddle or just his own little nap.
Oscar has a beautiful thick Australian Kelpie double coat of hair that does shed with the seasons which means he needs the occasional brush to get the loose hair off as to keep your home from getting too furry.
Oscar has been living with 5 dogs and has had no problem, would definitely love to have someone all to himself but would also be great with another quiet dog, the pack he’s been with just seems like too much energy and company going on for Oscar, at the end of the day he just likes to curl up and have his quiet time.
For more information or to meet Oscar, please contact his foster carer Josh via josh.gralton@hotmail.com. Oscar is in foster care in Putty, NSW near Singleton and is available for adoption interstate.
Oscar's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
