About Roxy
Roxy is a very special lady that needs a very special home. Imported from Europe as a pup, Roxy's first few years were chaotic and unstable. As such, she now has a great need for security in her life. She will devote herself completely to you once she accepts you as her new family. She is loyal to the core and wants nothing other than to be around the people she loves. And the dogs she loves too! She craves canine company (so long as they know she's the boss) as part of her home environment and even lives happily with 2 cats. Resting in front of a fan and watching the world go by is one of her favourite pastimes.
A typical Akita, Roxy will completely ignore anyone she doesn't identify as family. She throws shade like a master! Also typically, she will alert her family to anyone that falls into the "intruder alert" category in her home. On the sidewalk? She couldn't care less. At the front door? She's on it and will bark.
She loves a daily stroll and walks very nicely on the lead. Due to her age and size she's not the fastest cab off the rank, but her gentle pace will allow you to stop and smell the roses with her. She doesn't appreciate other dogs running up to her off lead (who does?) but will mind her own business if others mind theirs.
Due to her rough start in life, Roxy has a few anxiety issues. She is desperately terrified of loud rain, thunder, fireworks and things that go bump in the dark. If allowed access inside and a place to hide, she can cope. As the weather is so fickle in Melbourne, she will need to be allowed inside, even if her humans are out.
She also does not cope well to change, so will need a very compassionate, patient home, who is able to give her the understanding and time she needs to adjust, while encouraging her to enjoy life. Young children would be too stressful and unpredictable for her, as would a busy household. She needs a place where the days are calm and her owners are home for most of the day. For this she will give you her heart.
Roxy currently lives with Treasure. While they would be love to move into a new home together, they are both capable of moving on to a new life independently. Roxy will need to live with a compatible dog, to keep her company.
Additional Requirements:
