About Treasure
Adopt me :) My name is Treasure
They don't come cuddlier than this boy! Treasure will hug you, smooch you and lay on your lap if you let him. He looooves people and is a very chilled, a very relaxed fella to have around the house. Toilet trained and polite, he really is a gentle giant inside. Give him a liver treat and he will give you his heart.
Treasure is an american akita, a difficult breed that is not suited for the novice dog owner. Treasure will need a new family that understands his Akita traits and challenges. He is a big boy and will need someone committed to training and attending obedience classes. If you want to adopt Treasure please think of how you will be able to fulfill this very important requirement to get him to where he needs to be. He has had very limited exposure to the outside world, so needs an understanding, confident handler to guide him. His only exposure to other dogs have been the ones that he has lived with, so strange dogs can be quite alarming to him and he doesn't yet understand how to react appropriately. He may be suited to living with another female Akita, but the introduction would need to be done slowly.
Like most Akita's, he can be quite stubborn and has a high prey drive. He will need a home with no small critters or birds. He has previously live with cats, but it took many months of supervision and integration to achieve acceptance from both parties, so any new home with a feline must be willing to do the same, with no guarantee of results and the potential risks to any household cats.
Treasure is just that, a treasure and would make an amazing addition to an experienced akita family. He hasn't had any contact with young children, so for this reason and due to his size, would only be suitable for a home with older kids that are teens or adults.
Treasure is a nice young man deserves a loving akita family to call his own.
