About Simba ~Labrador x Ridgeback (on trial 23/1/2018)
Introducing Simba, a 5 year old Labrador cross Ridgeback who is 50 kilos of the biggest sooky cuddles! This boy is looking for an outdoorsy family who love the beach and will take him for regular swims and walks, to help lose a few extra kilos from obvious good living.
Simba travels well in the car and will jump up with no problems. He is a very well socialised boy who knows good manners around other dogs. He calmly greets dogs of all sizes and walks well on the lead. He has loved people of all ages but might knock small children over accidentally with his size. He has just been separated from his lifelong buddy, so would probably love another dog for company.
Despite his hefty girth and rotund body, Simba did manage to jump a 4ft gate when he came into care, so he will need 5 - 6ft fencing with no low points. That appears to be his only fault and was probably due to new surroundings. He is otherwise a beautiful boy who has been a much loved pet. He can sit and shake and has had no toileting accidents in the house. He really just wants to be near his people and will need a home where he is welcome inside to be part of the family and sleep at your feet.
Having seen how much he loves the water, it would be too sad to send him somewhere he couldn’t swim. His new owners will really need to commit to helping him lose some pounds so he can live a long and pain free life. This guy is the ultimate family dog, he will be an amazing addition to any loving family.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
