On Hold
About Cindy (available February)
When we first met Cindy, she was hairless with badly infected skin and painful legs and was in a Qld pound. She was miserable and reacting to the shelter staff defensively. It's not uncommon for sick and miserable dogs to show aggression, and Cindy was no exception.
We were able to get Cindy into our care and she has been with us for 6 months. Her condition was so appalling when she first came to us that she has required countless hours of trust building, positive reward-based training and many medical treatments to help her recover. The work that her devoted foster mum and our trainer have done together is truly remarkable.
The future for Cindy is bright. She now walks on stable knees that no longer dislocate with every step she takes. Her fur has grown back. Her infected mouth has healed.
Cindy loves other dogs. She snuggles with her carers Alaskan malamute and they are devoted companions. She needs a home with a doggy playmate.
Whilst Cindy has liked the children she's met, she can be snappy so she must not be adopted by a family with children.
Cindy loves to play, she's active and enjoys a romp around the garden. She adores a good cuddle and snoozes with contentment snuggled up to her foster mum. The perfect home for her would be someone who has patience and committment, someone who understands that Cindy will take time to trust and bond to her new owner. Due to her past, Cindy may always find new people a threat and so we are looking for someone with experience with dogs, time to spend with her and who will love her unconditionally. Could this be you?
Cindy needs to be rehomed in a home with no young children and with another dog for company.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes
Cindy has very sensitive skin and has been taking Apoquel for her skin allergies. This costs about $30 a month although she may not need it forever.
She has had bilateral patella repair surgery and is recovering well. Despite surgical intervention, she has some joint degeneration which our vets recommend supplements for.
