About Shannon D0863 on trial 10/3/18
Meet Shannon, who got his name after being found wandering in the Shannon National Park way down south and was unclaimed from the local rangers. He doesn't let that get in the way of enjoying life though, and this sweet boy has settled in beautifully with his foster family. He is great with kids (lives with 2 in his foster home) although may get rather excited if around little kids so would be best with kids of 10 plus. He gets on well with the other dog in the home, is not fazed by the dogs who bark at him through the fence on his walks, and is altogether very friendly with other dogs (in fact sometimes a little too friendly!) Shannon has possibly not had a lot of prior training but does walk well wearing a gentle leader harness. He will love a home able to provide daily exercise to keep him healthy and happy. He is a gorgeous goofball who is enjoying being inside with his carers: he wants to be close to you and give you lots of love, but also enjoys playing outside with his doggy friend. Although he has had one or two accidents he is pretty much house trained once he knows the exits and the routine.
So far Shannon seems ok when being left home without his family (with the other dog for company). Doesn't seem to be a barker. He has not met small pets such as cats or rabbits so we are not able to advise how he would get along with them.
He should suit most households who can offer him plenty of love and an active life. He is looking forward to meeting his new family soon; could that be you? NOTE: please see Shannon's medical notes below.

Medical notes
Adoption fee includes vet check with flea and worm treatment, vaccination, microchip (including transfer of ownership) and sterilisation. We do not include heartworm testing or treatment.
One of Shannon's nails has fused to his toe. Our vet has advised that the only way to fix this is to amputate the toe, which he felt unnecessary. However this issue does mean that Shannon presents with a limp at times: generally only first thing in the morning or after he's been asleep for a time, when he first gets up to move. The limp lasts a few minutes and then is able to walk/run as normal. We should be able to provide a vet report on this if new owner requires.
