About Nibbles R042
I’m Nibbles. I’m a lovely big guinea pig - not quite as big as my bestie, Cuddles who I miss terribly after the recent loss of his companionship, but I’m pretty impressive all the same. I’m a quiet boy and a little bit shy. I’m sweet though. We’re very social critters and always like to live with at least one another guinea pig. We make great pets for gentle children and can live for up to ten years.
Just like all guinea pigs I love to bury myself under leaves and vegetation. I come out of my little tunnel home into the open quite a lot. I eat a variety of foods - I’m still trying to decide on my favourites but fresh greens every day are a must. We need to be fed twice a day and our diet also includes hay, pellets and washed fruit and veges.
We’re a bit more heat tolerant than rabbits. At the moment, in the heat of the Pilbara, we go into a safe outdoor cage in the late afternoons with leaves to play and burrow in. During the day we are inside the house where it's cooler.
What else will we need to be happy? A gnawing block, a brush once or twice a week, fresh water in a metal spouted drip bottle and we’ll each want our own sleeping area - with a cover on top. Guinea pigs need their home cleaned every day and their bedding changed every week.
