About Duke ~ Pug x Terrier (on trial 28/1/2018))
Introducing Duke, a 12kg 6 year old Pug X Terrier. What sort of terrier, we will never know. But look at this face! Duke has likely been a by product of Gumtree and going from home to home. This loving dude deserves so much more.
Duke came into foster care distrusting human touch, not being aggressive but backing away. We will never know what caused this but Duke has learnt trust in foster care. Duke has learnt love. Duke came with his name but doesn't answer to it. Duke will sit after a lot of prompting.
Duke needs a fresh start. Someone to love him, train him and be there always, not like his first owner as a puppy taking him home all cute n cuddly, then discarding him. A forever home for real this time.
Duke loves soft plush toys and playing tug, he also loves destroying them. If you are not prepared to have a never ending supply of soft toys, he is fine with less destroyable ones. Duke will play tug with humans and other dogs, he just loves to play. Duke will happily have his harness put on to go for a walk, a complete change from when he first came into care. Duke gets on well with his two foster siblings, after some initial apprehension. Duke loves lap time, or sitting beside you, or sleeping beside you in your bed.
Duke is housetrained using a doggy door. Duke hasn't been tested with children, but I expect he would be fine. Duke hasn't been tested with cats or pocket pets either. As with all Dog Rescue Newcastle babes, secure fencing is a must.
So look at this face ! Is this a face you can wake up to for the rest of Dukes natural life?
For more information or to meet Duke, please contact his foster carer Anne on anne4drn@gmail.com. Duke is in foster care in Singleton, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Duke’s adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
