About Saxon
Looking for a dog with oodles of energy and personality ? Meet Saxon!
He has sooooo much energy, he really needs a morning walk every day! He’s like a cheeky toddler every morning, up wide awake and ready to move! He really needs to get that energy out first thing so he can settle and rest while u go out/go to work etc, otherwise he may get up to mischief with all that energy.
Saxon is very affectionate - he loves pats, ear rubs, and once he knows you, he likes belly rubs too! He is very very gentle -even with a four year old playing rough with him, grabbing tail etc, he has never shown any frustration. So he’s a pretty tough boy!! He can still mouth a little when excited and is still learning not to mouth people if they play or intervene when with another dog.
He will play fetch forever. If u say ‘where’s your toy!’ He’ll find his toys ready to play. Saxon also loves other dogs and would do well with another dog of similar age/size. He has become best friends with the neighbour’s dog, socialises really well, and gets super excited when it’s time to go in for a play.
Water is also fun for Saxon and he enjoys playing in puddles and the creek and would surely love the beach or river if you live nearby.
When he came into our care, he had anxiety the first few weeks and chewed lots of stuff. The first couple of weeks seemed very stressful and we worried about him a lot, but once he felt comfortable here, things really settled. So don’t worry if he's naughty the first little while, it’s just anxiety. Deep down he’s just a super energetic toddler learning the rules, but wanting to be playful! He needed routine and consistency. And learnt the routine very quickly.
This all makes him sound quite destructive, but he really is a beautiful dog that wasn’t previously looked after well or trained at all, so is going through the typical puppy stages of behaviour, and has boundless energy to burn.
Saxon will require a very active home and family that will take him out every day for long walks and play. He would ideally need another playful dog at home at home for company and to help burn that energy up. He'll also require someone patient and willing to understand him and his needs and in return will get a loving, happy dog.Someone home most days would also be needed.
Anyone interested in dog sport would be a good match or just someone quite physically active. If you believe you can offer Saxon the right home, then please apply by completing an adoption enquiry form via our Fetching Dogs website as the next step.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
