About Elvis
Elvis has been in foster care since the end of November and has settled in very well. We guesstimate that he was likely born around August 2017.
He is *very* affectionate and will love nothing more than a family who will dote on him and make him part of their pack. He needs a family that will teach him through positive reinforcement as he builds confidence. He is an active little mite, but can also self monitor for down time.
Elvis has displayed some nervous behaviour around certain things such as water from the hose, the blowvac, the vacuum cleaner and getting into the car. When he is given loving reassurance however, he comes out of his shell and is eager to please.
He has adapted to the rules of our house very well. He is mostly toilet trained, only having accidents inside now rarely. This is ongoing training.
Elvis is crate trained and enjoys his crate immensely.
Elvis loves nothing more than a visit to the local cafe where he can receive all the pats and all the attention.
We don’t know what mix of breeds Elvis is but his merle markings suggest he may have koolie or catahoula heritage. At the moment he is a small to medium sized pup, weighing in at 10kgs. How big he grows is anyone's guess.
Elvis lives with two other dogs, two cats, three chickens (that are penned) as well as teenaged kids. He can be a little boisterous with our cats, so care should be taken until he has a solid understanding on how to deal with the felines in his life. He doesn't want to hurt them but he does want to play, because cat. Elvis has been put in his place by our bosslady chook. He has not tried to mess with them since.
Elvis is looking for a caring family who will commit to the bare minimum that a dog needs: daily walks, continuation with his socialisation and training needs in order to bring out the best that he can be. He has amazing potential!! Because of his active nature (in mind and body) he will do well with a family that can engage his smart brain and keep him busy.
Elvis will be ready to be adopted once all of his vetwork is complete.
If you would like to be taken into consideration to adopt Elvis, please fill out the application form found in the link in the information below. General enquiries will not be taken into consideration as an application.
