Rufus ~ Kelpie X (on trial 9/1/2018)

If this was a dating website, Rufus would be the pick of the bunch. Good looking, affectionate, smart and sensitive. He is like a New Age guy mixed with just the right amount of athleticism!

So let’s get down to business. Rufus is a 4 year old Kelpie cross.

Despite having a rough start to life, he still bounces up and down in excitement with a huge smile on his face when his humans arrive home or come outside. Starting life as a farm dog has meant Rufus has always been an outside dog; he happily sleeps out on his bed and is content even when his humans are inside. However, being that he is very affectionate and smart, Rufus has enjoyed some supervised inside time of an evening whilst being in foster care, and would be very willingly to learn the rules of being inside, especially if it meant more cuddles! Rufus is not a destructive dog outside; he is not a chewer of furniture and rarely digs.

Rufus loves nothing more than going for a daily walk or run, having a swim on hot days and getting attention from his humans; he therefore needs to go to a home where he will be included as part of the family and shown the tender love and care that he missed out on early in life. Due to his past, Rufus can be timid, especially around loud voices. He is such a sweet boy, all he wants to do is please his humans. He already knows the basic commands such as sit and down, and would be easy to train in return for love and cuddles.

He has lived with children of all ages, however can get a little over excited at times so would need supervision around small children and some ongoing training. He gets on well with other dogs and enjoys playing with his furry friends to release some energy, so would benefit from going to a home with a playmate. Rufus is curious of chickens but has not been around cats or pocket pets so would need to be supervised.

Rufus’ adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.
