About Rocky ~ Labrador X ~ On Trial 31/3/18
Introducing Rocky a beautiful and sweet natured 4 year old Labrador cross boy. Rocky is very affectionate, loyal and loves nothing more than to be with his humans. Rocky is a happy and active boy who is bubbly and is gentle with kids.
Rocky enjoys a daily walk to keep him fit and mentally stimulated - he enjoys a frolic or zoomies in the yard or park and then he'll recharge by lazing around. He is a typical labrador in that he can get very excited and distracted by what's going on around him however he has nice basic manners and responds well to positive training techniques so he'd do well at advanced training once adopted.
Rocky loves his walks, the park, playing with toys and spending time meeting new people. He will require recall training so he can be let off lead otherwise he just goes off and does his own thing in typical goofy labrador style! He would love a good sized yard to play in. He isn't a fence jumper however he will dig under the fence if you have sandy soil so he needs fencing with hard soil, bricks or concrete along the fence line. He will require a home without cats, birds, chickens or pocket pets as he thinks they are fabulous toys to play with.
Rocky would suit a lifestyle where he is someone's baby - he is content to be on his own whilst you work as long as he gets daily exercise and you include him in your activities when you are home. Rocky is excitable when meeting other dogs so he requires some training on calm introductions. He has previously been a big brother to rescue dogs and he befriends them nicely although he does get up to mischief when he has a canine partner in crime to play with! He may suit being an only dog so that his bond with his humans and his training can be his focus.
Rocky would suit an active single person or couple, or a family with older kids who still have plenty of time to spend with a doggy furchild. He has a wonderful temperament with children and adores his two legged human sister in his current home.
For more information on Rocky please contact Jo on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com . Rocky is in foster care near Woy Woy, NSW (Central Coast)
Rocky's adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Rocky is a happy go lucky boy who does have eczema and some food allergies which can cause his skin to be sensitive - this can be helped by a fish based diet (Holistic Select brand of food available through most large pet stores) and medicated baths. Rocky was involved in a farm accident when he was a pup and lost his tail and had a plate put in his rear leg - this old injury doesn't bother him in day to day life but he may get stiff in that leg as he gets older.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
