Wags

This elderly gentleman is estimated to be approximately 11 years of age. He recently found himself in a spot of bother at the local pound, he arrived into care with Forever Friends Animal Rescue Latrobe back in August of this year.
Since being in care, Wags has proven to be a well-adjusted and resilient dog, he has socialised very well with the large family dog and dogs that frequently visit the home. Wags has also proven to be trustworthy around the pet chickens with mild supervision, at first he was somewhat interested in the chickens, however he has learnt over time that the chickens are not for chasing! Not only is Wags great with other dogs and moderately good with chickens, he has slowly become friends with the adult cats of the house. We believe Wags was not socialised with cats prior to entering care as initially he would chase, however this adaptable gentleman has proven he can be trusted around cats that he becomes accustomed to.
Wags enjoys going for regular walks and is great on the lead! We do like to keep him on a lead as he prefers to wander at his own pace and has at times selective hearing. He also loves taking a ride in the car.
It is believed that Wags may have been confined to concrete surfaces in his younger years, this has made toilet training a challenge, however as time goes by Wags is slowly becoming accustomed to using the grassed areas. This will require ongoing persistence in training Wags so it is recommended that Wags remain an outdoors dog until he is fully toilet trained.
Upon arrival, Wags was in severe pain due to significant dental issues and hind leg pain. Since his arrival, Wags has received the dental treatment he required (12 teeth removed) and daily pain medication. Wags will require ongoing daily pain medication.
He is a happy and energetic little dog with loads of life and love left in him, he deserves to find himself a loving home that will care for him as he ages. If you believe you can provide Wags with the love and care that he requires, please contact Forever Friends Animal Rescue Latrobe to schedule a meet and greet.
