About Doro
** CURRENTLY ON TRIAL**
A story for Doro written by her foster carer.
Doro is the youngest of 8 in our foster home and learning from older somewhat wiser canines is a blessing ....Doro could be best described as the friend we all wish we had. Life of the party, comforting a good listener and a joy to be around. Doro's training started from day one as Doro being a puppy leaving her to her own devices would be a recipe for disaster. Doro sleeps in the kitchen on her bed behind a baby gate. She has accepted this as routine but prefers to share her bed with at least one of her fur foster siblings rather than sleep alone so MUST have at least one younger active canine companion in her new home. Doro is curious about everyday life toys being her obsession. Doro knows to take toys from the toy basket throw them around leave and seek the next one . She hasn't mastered the game of fetch however tug o war is A+ .
Doro has a clear temperament soft natured somewhat submissive. She is a quick learner sit is mastered . A milestone was achieved when she scratched at the door asked to be let out then went straight on the grass .
By now I bet most of you are asking "what about cats?" There are 7 cats crossing her path everyday Doro is scared of felines when they rub on her yet perfectly sane when they walk past. I did bust our veteran dog loving cat sleeping with her I couldn't say for sure if Doro was happy or just too scared to move! As the pictures will show with every day she is becoming more comfortable around the cats. Doro is social around a variety of dogs she is currently best friends with a full on Chihuahua, bed buddies with foxies and shares her home also with a great dane, the more the merrier for Doro.
Doro's real test came when meeting the free range chickens and ducks. By the time she even noticed them they were eye to eye. Doro simply walked away to this day Doro shows no interest whatsoever. Kids love Doro and she loves them .In fact it was our 12 year old daughter who Doro first fell in love with. Since day one its been nothing but giggles between them . Its really hard to say if Doro will be a large size or medium size I believe she will be a chunky dog rather than tall No crystal ball in my hands its just safe to say she won't be a dog you'd fit in your handbag!
Doro is a people dog and must be a family member and permitted inside with her family. Doro enjoys a long walk/run each day outside of the home as you will see and loves water! I have allowed Doro off lead at the beach with great recall success. Doro isn't perfect just ask the once was stuffed bear however at the rate she learns and her continuing loving nature she would be ideal for most home situations prepared to make her part of the family, and continue her socialisation and training. Doro is the dog for you IF you want a dog with a sense of humour and one who you almost swear can understand a human conversation.
