About Oz (CaV17-196)
Is your New Year's Resolution to change the world? Well, we can help! Adopt Oz and you will change his world forever.
We're going to tell you all about him but first, just look at his face and into those eyes. He's apprehensive and unsure but he's full of love and desperate to be treated with kindness and understanding.
Oz came from a country pound. We don't know anything about his background. It's likely he didn't grow up in close contact with people and we assume he's never been part of a family. Many cats in this situation react by lashing out to protect themselves but not Oz - he's never so much as hissed! His only reaction is flight so when threatened he does try to get away. He's not a cat who you can walk up to and cuddle right now (much as you may want to when you see that adorable little face!)
His special human is a loving and patient person who truly wants to change a life. It will be a slow and steady process of bonding and it may be weeks before you can give Oz the pats and physical love you want to but in the mean time you can make him feel safe and secure and satisfy emotional needs that no one has ever cared about before. It's a very special thing to save an animal no one has ever wanted.
Oz gets on incredibly well with other cats and he loves to play. It is essential that he goes to a home with another feline to keep him company and help him come out of his shell. A cat who is confident and social with humans will show him the ropes and assure him that you aren't that scary after all. Toys on strings will be your friend as they allow you to engage with Oz without touching him.
It's strongly advised that Oz be an indoor only cat, as in the outside world he could easily become over-whelmed and get lost.
Oz is going to be an amazingly loyal little friend once he learns to trust you - and you are going to be a hero the moment you take him home!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
