About Bonnie
Bonnie is a beautiful girl who came to us from the remote community of Ampilatwatja in Kaidich country in the Southern Barkly region of Central Australia. She is a lovely little dog, who loves to have a close relationship with her human, and is very faithful and cooperative. She loves a walk and likes to go exploring, but knows her name well and comes back promptly when she is called. Most times she just goes along close by or walks with me. She has just learned to walk on the lead and picked it up really quickly. She is in a home environment with a big mob of rescue dogs at present, and while she has her favourites to play with, she get along with all of them. Having said that she is very people focused. She has been around kids and lots of people too and is very reliable. We think that she would really love to have her own human or humans to bond to and have that close affectionate relationship. At night she hops up on the back of the couch and curls up around my neck, sometimes with her head on my shoulder. She is just so sweet.
Bonnie was homeless and had a litter of puppies who all died, probably from starvation. A local worker took her in and nursed her back to health as she was painfully thin, and loved and cared for her. After a few months she brought her to us for rehoming. She is currently in foster care in Elliott.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Bonnie's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide.
