About Moey ~ Maltese x Shi Tzu (on trial 5/1/2018)
Moey is a 10 year old, male, Maltese x Shi Tzu. Moey has a calm temperament and appreciates relaxation and a quiet home. He loves company and often follows his foster around the house. He has an extremely engaging personality, and makes us laugh with his funny antics.
Moey would be a perfect companion for an older person or couple who spend most of their time at home. When you do go out, he will welcome you home with great joy. He has a strong interest in food and sleeping but rejects the idea of playing with toys or games such as fetch.
Moey gets along well with other small dogs. We haven't tested him with children or cats. He is house trained and sleeps indoors (his favourite spot is the end of the bed). He has some very basic obedience training and with his easy-going nature that's sufficient.
He has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
Moey is quiet and doesn’t bark often unless provoked by dogs, but he quietens swiftly. He does not like being left alone and may attempt to escape if left outside all day on his own so he needs to be safely indoors when you go out.
His ideal home would be a quiet one with owners who are home all day and appreciate a good nap with a furry friend!
For more information or to meet Moey, please contact his foster carer Alex by phone 0426 143 043 or email alex.cater.710@gmail.com. Moey is in foster care in Waratah, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Moey's adoption fee is $150 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. He has been vet checked and is healthy. Small dogs like Moey often lived to around 15 years of age so he still has lots of time to enjoy his new home.

Medical notes

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
