About Cyrus ... cuddly like a teddy bear
Cyrus is a 2.8yo bull mastiff x (likely Rottweiler x) with loads of love to give. He has a puppy dog face, a big heart and is not as large as a purebred mastiff - he’s about the size of a Lab.
His favourite things in life are being as close as possible to his humans, belly scratches, playing with friendly dogs, sleeping and water - he loves his shell pool and the beach. You’ll find him lounging flat out on his back most of the time.
He has picked up training very quickly with treats. He knows how to sit, drop, shake, ‘go to bed’, is house trained, is learning wait and is a pleasure to walk with a harness. His exercise needs are basic, one walk a day and he is pooped! High sturdy fences and a big backyard are a must for this boy.
We believe he has lived a sheltered life up until this point as he can startle easily and is a little timid at times when experiencing new sights and sounds. It is for this reason that I believe he’d be best suited to a home with another dog as he needs to learn ‘how to dog’ from them and he requires the extra company as he can have some separation anxiety if living as an only pet. He doesn’t know how to play with toys or balls yet but with some encouragement from his furry sibling/s we hope he’ll get the idea! The type of dog best suited to him can be male or female, medium to large, preferably not too young (2+), respectful but still playful.
His confidence while in care has grown immensely. It is important that his new family include him in all sorts of activities to continue his socialisation.
He’d love to go to a home where a human is home most of the time and he can have an indoor/outdoor lifestyle so he can laze around inside or play all day. He has not destroyed anything inside or dug up the garden nor does he bark - he is a model doggy citizen. He’d prefer to live with dog-savvy children (4+) as he is a gentle soul that can be easily startled. He has been tested with cats, the cat was confident and did not run and he give her a sniff and was friendly. Unsure how he’d go with a cat that runs, as always -introductions should be controlled and slow.
If you are looking for a dog that will adore you, cuddle and kiss you, always keep an eye on you and be your life long friend then Cyrus is the dog for you.
dob is 11/3/14
