About Chickpea
Looking for a petite, polite, independent-but-affectionate sort of lady? This is the puss for you!
Coming into foster care with her babies, Chickpea was clearly only just out of kittenhood herself. Now they have gone on to find homes, it is mumma's time to shine! She is largely a self-sufficient girl, happily spending the day off by herself, but always comes to find us when it's dinner time, or if we've settled down to watch television in the evenings.
Chickpea was incredibly shy at first, but she has blossomed in confidence over time. It's been a slow process, but she has learned to enjoy physical contact. She now loves being brushed, I sometimes wake in the night to find her curled up on the end of the bed (I have to pretend I haven't noticed her), and lately she has even been so bold as to sit next to us on the sofa, rumbling with the gentlest of purrs. It's wonderfully rewarding to see her warm to human company, and I know Chickpea is ready for her forever home .
Perhaps as a result of falling pregnant so young, Chickpea is a tiny cat! She has a little head, stumpy legs and a stumpy tail - but then the thickest, most ridiculously boofy coat of fur! Thankfully, it doesn't require too much maintenance, and she is more than happy to be brushed. Add to this the conversational chirps, and she's just the sweetest little thing. She adores the other cats in the house (terrible flirt) and has learnt that the big dog isn't a threat.
She is always going to be shy, and would definitely suit a quieter household, but seeing how far she has come in foster care, Chickpea definitely has a lot to give the right home. This girl was a brilliant mumma, and now it's her time to be loved and fussed over.
