About Benson
Benson is a really lovely little guy. Weighing in at just under 15 kg he is not very big, but has a lovely fit and athletic build. While he loves his runs, he is also quite happy in the yard and has a nice calm presence in the home. He has special friends amongst the other dogs in foster care (both boys and girls), and loves to play wrestle with them, and then curl up with them on a shared bed for a nap. He really is a very congenial fellow. Benson can be left inside and be trusted not to destroy anything, but he is also happy outside amusing himself in the yard if he has a nice outside dog bed or lounge to rest on.
Benson is great off lead and very responsive to coming back to a whistle. He loves his bush walks and going off exploring but he doesn't go too far away. He is quite happy to walk on the lead, although he has never been asked to do that before. There is a bit of weaving happening, but overall he is getting the hang of it really well.
Benson was taken in by a dog loving couple of workers in a community in the APY lands. He was with quite a few rescue dogs there, and that couple really loved him, travelling 700 kilometres to deliver him to us. Benson would make a great family dog and would be a good mate for another dog friendly dog too.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Benson's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Benson is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
