About Scruffy ~ Jack Russell X (on trial 17/12/2017)
Introducing you to the man that melted my heart: SCRUFFY! Just to be clear, he is not scruffy in the slightest, maybe it was out of irony that he was called this? I don’t know.
Anyway, this old boy is the ripe old age of 8, but still kickin’. He is small, weighing in at only 5kgs. He is an absolute delight to foster. Scruffy absolutely adores his foster siblings (a Jack Russell and a Kelpie) and has met many dogs during his time here, getting along with all of them! He would be best suited to a home with another dog or alternatively, a human companion who doesn’t work and is home a lot.
Scruffy is a very low maintenance and quiet dog. All this little guy wants to do is cuddle. He isn’t overly active, so won’t need too much exercising: only to explore some sights and smells on an evening stroll. He is a champion lunch companion, who is easy on lead and just sits by you as you eat your lunch at a busy cafe.
Unfortunately my Jack Russell Terrier friend came from an incredibly sad situation. He was very frightened when he came to my home, but has progressed in leaps and bounds as each day goes by. It is important to note that Scruffy has had a hard time in life, so he may be a bit wary when you first meet him. You will need to be cautious and over time introduce yourself more physically to him, like picking him up or patting him for example. Over time though, he will learn to trust you and will seek out your affection and trust your touch.
Scruffy is toilet trained for the most part, only in that he hasn’t yet figured out the doggy door. He rides fine in the car and only barks when someone knocks on the front door. He also does a heart melting singalong when you come home because he’s so happy to see you.
Scruffy is currently sleeping inside, on a bed in the bedroom and I think it would be best suited to continue this because of his incredibly loving nature.
For more information or to meet Scruffy, please contact his foster carer Teagan on tmlang93@gmail.com. Scruffy is in foster care in Charlestown , NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Scruffy’s adoption fee is $200 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
