On Hold
About Pass the “Pepper” Please. Melbourne.
Like her name, Pepper adds warmth and character to whatever she touches, and has quickly won the hearts of her foster cares with her quietly affectionate ways. Pepper is small, black and perfectly-formed, with white socks and a white tip on her tail, and gorgeous deep brown eyes. She’s shy around new people, but warms up within a day or so, and becomes a dear, little loving companion.
Pepper’s favourite pastime is snoozing, on the couch, the bed, or a cool floor if it’s hot. She’s not fussy if she has a few short walks or a long one each day. One thing Pepper does need is company – she must go to a home with another dog, preferably a greyhound as she’s most used to her own kind. Pepper is good with small dogs, but hasn’t met a cat yet. Any children (six or over) in her forever home will need to give her time to get used to them – and then be ready to shower her with cuddles once she’s confident enough to let her cuddly side show!
Pepper is fully house-trained, and can sit (unusual for a greyhound) or lie down on command. She has eye disease, Pannus, which is easily managed with daily eye-drops, but is otherwise a small, neat package of health and charm. Pepper’s joyful nature exudes gratitude for all the walks, cuddles, treats and playtime she’s enjoying in foster care – now all she needs are some humans to love her forever.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
