About Bumper
Bumper is part horse we think, he's a big chap with long limbs and big feet. He gained his name from a lady whose house he visited like it was a restaurant you could come to when you felt like it. There was never an offer to help with the dishes unless it was to lick them clean.
He used to be that kind of cat, free wheelin' and that's where he came unstuck.
She said he was clumsy and bumped into things all the time. One night he came back to ask for help. His jaw was hanging. Emergency vet suggested putting to sleep and the suggested scenario was that Bumper had collided with a car and landed in the mud.
Luckily for Bumper the lady asked for basic treatment and took him home with an injection for pain and an antibiotic.
Next day he was taken on by our rescue and admitted by our vets with a broken jaw.
Bumper spent several weeks in hospital with two surgeries and the insertion of a plate at the junction of the jaw.
I used to worry about his ability to chew but after finding him in our kitchen with a kg of thawing chicken he had removed from the sink and chewing on the part he had parted the plastic from I didn't worry any more. As his previous feeder said, his hunting abilities seemed fine.
Bumper had fur like dreadlocks and was covered in mud on entry to hospital. We all know that mud sticks and it did.
After more basic treatment which included desexing and a dental for some broken teeth, Bumper was groomed and had his fur shaved back.
He's not all that impressed by other cats. At this point he doesn't see cat relationships as being of benefit unless they want to donate some of their meals. He's never been aggressive with them, in fact he's had a clout or two from cats half his size and he just slinks off.
For the past eighteen months Bumper has lived in a flat with his carer. He had his own dish and probably a share of the carers too. He was living the life, home alone all day, windows overlooking the street, a sunny spot, food to nibble on and company at night, a bed buddy to boot.
Now his carer is moving interstate for work and later overseas. So it is time to find an adoption.
Bumper is an entertaining cat!, he loves people, visitors are a treat! he talks and croons and smooches.
When asked how he felt about Bumper recently, his carer said 'Oh I love him!'

Bumper recently had all his teeth removed which has improved his demeanour. He eats very well without them! He was also groomed and shaved back for Summer. Bumper just loves people!!!
