On Hold
About “Snowball”, Little White Shadow. Melbourne
What do we love best about Snowball? It’s so hard to choose! We love how clever she is, with her puzzle toys and her Kongs, and how she’s even learned to wee on command when she goes out before bedtime. We love how small and cute she is, being one of the tiniest (19kg) and most pointy-eared greyhounds we’ve ever rescued. We love how much she enjoys her walks, and the funny little prancing move she does when she’s happy. Most of all, we love that she has all the best things about greyhounds (gentle, quiet, polite, easy to look after) with the pep and energy of an exuberant young dog.
Snowball’s ideal home will have humans who are home a lot, who won’t mind having a little white shadow following their every move. She might also like another dog for company, as she likes to stay close to her older greyhound foster sister. Snowball’s clever mind needs plenty of stimulation, so lots of squeaky toys, Kongs and puzzle toys would suit her nicely. She warms up quickly to children (six or over), but hasn’t yet met any small dogs. She's been exposed to cats and is a little too interested to be trusted with them. She’d rather not have any scary shiny floors—although she’s getting braver every day! We think Snowball would also love a home with a garden, as she has a penchant for hiding her toys among the plants in her foster home, or trying (unsuccessfully) to camouflage herself among the violets.
Snowball is a joy to have around, and will thrive in a home where she’s part of the family. Could Snowball be the one to melt your heart?

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
