About Jersey ~ Cattle x Ridgeback (on trial 7/7/18)
The story of Jersey is one of a dog who deserves a second chance at a forever home. Jersey was adopted through DRN as a 9 month old puppy and was living a very loved and happy life with her older staffy sister for nearly 2 years. Unfortunately, the addition of a third dog, a male puppy, into the family changed the dynamics irreparably. Jersey has had a rough trot in the last few months and bares the battle scars of wars with her sister. When she arrived back into DRN’s care, she was a sad, confused girl and non-trusting of the foster brothers she previously lived with as a puppy. However, in a short time with lots of patience and love Jersey has begun to flourish once again as a happy, bright, snuggly girl; and so the next chapter of Jersey’s story begins…
Jersey loves to play fetch and will diligently return the ball to you each time for you throw it. Jersey loves to dine alongside her foster brothers with no dramas; she sits patiently until told that it’s time to eat. She knows basic commands such as sit; come; stay; and voluntarily ‘drops’. Jersey loves to go on adventures in the car, she sits quietly, taking in the scenery and is never a distraction while you drive.
Jersey loves nothing more than to smother her family in love and will give the home music with the constant beat of her ever wagging tail. She previously lived with 2 children, and would be suited to a home with kids who are steady on their feet as she can become excited when everyone comes home. Jersey would love a forever family who enjoys taking her on her much loved daily walk and lets her have fun off leash at the beach or lake because she loves to take a swim and do zoomies in the sand. Jersey needs to be close by her family, she is fully housetrained and a perfect houseguest; her favourite place is snuggled up near you inside.
Jersey will require secure and high fencing as her anxiety of being alone can cause her to escape in search of you. However, with her foster brothers she doesn’t try so Jersey needs a home with a brother (dog) to keep her company. She doesn’t want a sister (they always steal your clothes anyway). A friendly, male dog, who is a confident leader and good role model for her sounds just perfect, thank you! She bonds quickly and hard to any human (she would be perfectly suited as a therapy dog - she already has this in her resume).
If you think you could offer sweet Jersey the second chance she dearly deserves please contact Bec (email preferred) 77beccaboo@gmail.com or SMS 0416095409. Jersey is in foster care in Cardiff (Lake Macquarie area of Newcastle) and is not available for adoption interstate.
Jersey’s adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
