About Turbo
Turbo is a lovely young boy, about 18 month old, but still with a lot of playful puppy traits. He is a medium sized dog but a chunky boy, with a great big boofy head. He obviously has Red Heeler in him, but we also think maybe some Bull Arab too, because of his solid build and steady nature. He has such a wonderful nature, very dog friendly and trustworthy and sweet with all humans.
Turbo was impounded in Tennant Creek and our group was overloaded at the time and could not take him. The Pound Manager believed so much in him that she kept him for 6 weeks until we had a space for him. We expected that after such a long time caged up he would be difficult to manage, but he is a boy who takes things in his stride, and after a big bush run and a play in the garden he settled in nicely with the rest of the team.
He is a very cooperative fellow and easy to train. He walks beautifully on the lead, and is great off lead too, enjoying looking around but coming back nicely when he is called. He likes exploring but is not a dog who wants to chase things, and after his walk he turns into a bit of a lounge lizard really. He has a moderate exercise requirement. Turbo respects fences and is quite relaxed when left at home, enjoying a nice nap or a play with one of his doggy friends. He really is a great dog, and would be great fun to train up to a high level. He certainly has the intelligence and nature to achieve that. He loves to play wrestling and chasey with his new girlfriend Scout and although he is quite a big boy, he is very gentle and sweet with the smaller breed foster dogs too, and respectful of the senior dogs too.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Turbo's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Turbo is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
