About Gustov Gonzales
This little dog might look similar to many others of his breed, but he is truly remarkable.
Gustov arrived in care in the most appalling condition. He was emaciated, his legs were so painful he couldn't walk properly and he had pus oozing out of his gums. The vet staff instantly fell in love with him when he presented for treatment because despite considerable suffering, he was as sweet, gentle and loving as any dog can be.
Gustov is truly an amazing little man. We estimate he's about 8. He lives harmoniously in a household of other dogs and pays no attention to the cats in his foster home.
Whilst he's gentle and loving to all he meets, he'd be most suited to a home with older children as he is small and best treated gently. He's far more of a snuggly lap dog then a rough and tumble back yard boy!
Medical notes
*** Gustov is a special needs dog. ***
Gustov came into care in a terrible state. He was emaciated and so painful he couldn't walk. He had pus seeping out his gums.
Since coming into care he has been nursed back to health. He had 20 infected teeth removed and his mouth thoroughly cleaned up. He has been on strict rest with anti-inflammatory pain relief.
Gustov had extensive radiology and a CT Scan. These have revealed an old but stable spinal injury. His stifle injuries have healed thanks to rest and medication. Gustov started on gabapentin last week which has given him extra mobility. This medication costs about $15 a week.
From here, he requires a good diet, joint supplements and a family who will keep an eye on his back injury to make sure it doesn't become inflamed again. However he lives a happy and full life

This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
