Buddy

Hi, I’m Buddy and I’m a 2 year old tan Staffy X.
I love to play, chew bones, go for car rides, go for walks with my foster mum (sometimes she makes me run with her but I don’t always need that much exercise!) and most importantly I love attention. My favourite thing to do is to cuddle up to humans. I’m very friendly and have had lots of kids, parents and other dogs come and say hello to me and I’ve loved every minute of it. I do get excited and can be very playful with other dogs but I’ve never been aggressive. My foster mum always makes sure she holds my collar when little children pat me to make sure I don’t forget my strength and jump up out of excitement but so far I’ve been very calm and good with children! I’ve met a couple of cats now and I have never been aggressive towards them – just a bit curious so I might chase them if I’m off the lead but usually I’m pretty disinterested and more excited about going for my walk.
I’m an obedient boy – I know how to sit, wait for my food, shake and stay. I don’t dig holes in the backyard but do need to make sure I’ve got some toys or a bone to chew on so I don’t get bored. I don’t like getting in trouble so I always do my best and try and listen the first time I’m told not to do something. I’ve been very good in my foster mum’s backyard while I’ve been with her. Some days I have been left alone for 8-9 hours in the backyard but as long as I have a big bone to chew on and/or some fun toys to play with I’m happy entertaining myself until she gets home.
I have spent most of my time with my foster mum as an outside dog but I am allowed on my special inside bed a few night times a week. I’m always very happy to be inside with everyone to get some love and affection so I am always a very good boy and sit calmly on my bed when I’m inside.
I’m a very good-natured dog – I’ve been complimented on it a lot! I rarely bark and am always very happy. Sometimes I get too excited at the beginning of my walks and like to pull on the lead to make sure I can try and sniff everything but my foster mum has been teaching me how to walk better on the lead. After the first 5 minutes I calm down and like to walk beside her but do need to continue my training on the lead to make sure I don’t keep pulling because I’m a strong boy. I can also jump high so having secure fencing would be important however my foster mum’s fences are only a metre high from the garden bed and I’ve never tried to jump them because once I know that the backyard is my area, I’m happy to chill out all day there.
I absolutely love the beach, I love to swim in the waves, run in the sand and have a play with all the other dogs that are at the beach too. I’m very good with other dogs and have spent a few days being dog sitted by other families with another dog and I have loved being able to play all day with a friend. I’m not very fussed about loud noises such as thunder or fireworks but I can be a bit sensitive and love to get a cuddle when the weather is a bit overwhelming.
