About Sammy
Well hi there, my name is Sammy and I have quite the story to tell!
I was surrendered to Lort Smith as my carers could no longer provide the attention that I needed.
When I had my first veterinary examination the vets noticed that I had an abnormal left knee. It's likely to be from an old injury that had healed in an incorrect position. This injury resulted in a lot of muscle wastage from inability to extend the knee normally and weight bare.
The vets presume that I lived with this injury for several years with no issues, but I would most likely develop problems as I aged.
Initially amputation was looking likely but thanks to my amazing vet, Dr Warren, he saved my leg!
I've since spent time in foster care but now I'm ready for a new home. I am a pretty relaxed sort of a guy. I love chilling around the house with my human friends. I have lived with other dogs and will have some interactions with them but I am not very interested in playing and really just keep to myself.
I am obsessed with tennis balls and I absolutely love my walks - I can't hide my excitement when the lead comes out.
I would love to go to obedience school to work on basic obedience skills and socialise with new people and other dogs.
If you think I sound like the perfect companion for you, please give the Adoption Hub a call, 9321 7240.
Medical notes
I will be adopted out with a disclaimer for my legs.
