About Monty
SOMEONE HOME A LOT
NO SMALL CHILDREN
Hi my name is Monty, I’m a lovely little boy that sadly needs to find a new home through no fault of my own. I’ve already been passed around a couple of times so this time I want a forever home with someone that will take me to obedience school.
I’m a very excitable boy and jump up a lot, so I can’t go to a home with small children, 12 years + would be fine but I could knock younger children over accidentally.
There are some notes below from my behavioural assessment, so if you’re interested please read the info to the end.
BEHAVIOUR EVALUATION FORM
7. Startle Response / Recovery
Visual: Wary of raised arms (flinches with some sudden movements) and very wary of sudden loud
noises
Aural: Very wary of whistle.
Note: Monty may suffer from some sound sensitivity and also may be fearful of sudden stimuli
8. Dog Test
Sex of test dog: male / female/fake
Result:
• Monty showed little to no interest in the other dogs.
• Quick sniff of Bubbles then walked away. Same reaction to other dogs behind the fences.
• Whilst no dog aggression evident, please always check suitability and sociability levels with other
dogs
Summary of Test –summary of observation and testing
• Monty is a highly excitable and active dog with a high degree of sociability towards humans.
• He is always seeking contact but does tend to jumps up when becomes aroused/excited
• Only very basic obedience skills although he walks beautifully on lead
• Watch for sound and sudden movement sensitivities which were evident at time of testing. This can include thunder and noise phobias, raised hands or other stimuli.
• Be careful not to create dependency issues as Monty would be the type of personality susceptible to Separation Anxiety and noise phobias.
• Nil resource guarding at time of testing
• Low drive levels but has good level of activity
Adoption Criteria
• Any family situation but would recommend older children due to sound and movement sensitivity
• Not tested with cats
So if you think you can offer me a good forever home where you’ll be able to give me all the above, and, in return, I’ll give you all the love and loyalty you could ask for! Please go to www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au where you’ll find the Adoption Application. Please make sure you read all the information on the Adoption page, as well as the links at the bottom.
