About Norman
SOMEONE HOME A LOT
SECURE BACK YARD
SINGLE DOG HOME
No cats.
Hi my name is Norman and I’m a really lovely dog, everyone loves me a lot which really makes me happy. I’m very loving and enjoy just being with humans, I love cuddles and pats and thrive on attention. I’m a bit insecure when I go out in the big wide world and will turn around to go back which is most probably because I never got to go out much where I used to live but if you are patient with me I’m sure I will get used to walks in time.
I can be a bit hand shy and can duck when you go to stroke me but I will get over that because I just love the cuddles I’ve been getting.
I take food really gently and I know how to sit. It would be a good idea if I went to obedience school to build my confidence with the outside world and other dogs.
There are some notes below on my behavioural assessment and if you read the part underneath ‘Summary of Test –summary of observation and testing’ you will see some special notes that I’m very chuffed about.
Dog Test
Sex of test dog: male / female/fake
Result:
Fake dog: Gentle approach, lip licking and sniffing, tail wagging.
Female dog: (on lead), sniffed and inquisitive but lost interest.
Nil dog aggression evident at time of testing would would recommend exercising caution at all times especially with male dogs or dogs that are rude on approach.
Summary of Test –summary of observation and testing
Every now and again a dog comes along that is the epitome of sound nerves, genetic sociability with an abundant of social tolerance, as well as being calm and well natured…..this boy is it!!!!
• Norman is a very sociable and very affectionate dog
• Calm and with low arousal levels, Norman is able to self regulate his excitability very easily
• He has a good concept of spatial awareness but does lean into you for a pat if you allow it
• Norman is a little wary of some new and unfamiliar things (arms and item over-head) but is slowly building confidence with these.
• Nil food aggression evident, eats calmly and takes food gently from hand
• Low level drives – some interest in tug but lost interest quickly
• Nil obedience skills but walks on the lead very well
• Very tolerant of touch and restraint. Good level of social tolerance.
• Nil aggression to other dogs evident at time of testing but due to his size would recommend caution when around other male dogs or dogs that may be boisterous and rude.
Adoption Criteria
• Any family situation (would need to check suitably with young children)
