About Jack
I go by many names, Handsome Jack, Jacky Boy, Jack Jack Jacky, Oi Boofhead, but you can just call me your new best friend ;)
I'm an exceptional man and if you don't fall in love with my looks, I guarantee you will fall in love with my personality.
I came into care after I was kill listed at a rural pound. No one came forward and claimed me and my time is up. Someone once loved me though, because I am a very well behaved and super loyal.
I can sit, shake, lay down and wait very patiently for my food. Which is a big task for a fella like me because I love my food. I am also a very quick learner and have learned so much in foster care already. I don't barge in the door, I sit and wait patiently until I am invited in. My foster parents just love me and are just amazed at how amazing my manners are.
I sleep one night out and one night in. Mainly because my foster mum is a sook but also so I can easily adjust to any lifestyle. And honestly I am happy either way. I put myself to bed, all I ask is that you give me a kiss goodnight every night. When I come inside, I will just lay down beside you and snuggle in. I am very loyal like that.
I'm currently living with other dogs smaller than me and I am just so gentle with them. One of the dogs is a tiny little poodle and my foster family are just so amazed at how good I am with him. When he plays with me I instantly become extra gentle as to not accidentally hurt him. I love playing, and I just love toys. If I had to decide what my favourite toy was, I would say rope ones! They are great to throw around and chase and chew on. But I love all toys. Sometimes I don't exactly know what to do with them, but that just makes my family laugh.
My house also has cats. Now, they are curious creatures but I would never hurt one. I just think they're funny. The cats I live with a very friendly and like to snuggle into my face. It is a bit weird but I don't mind too much.
I've been around kids and I am very gentle and enjoy their company. I am usually aware of my size but like any dog, sometimes I get a little too excited!
No ones knows why I ended up at the pound. I was obviously loved once upon a time. I hope one day very soon I find a new family that will always love me, because that's all I deserve.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
