About Roxette *Adoption by donation* CaV17-159
Roxette is stunning to look at, with her piercing green eyes, soft grey coat and huge bushy tail. Sadly, this girl had a rough start that has affected forever her relationship with people. She was born on a busy industrial site, lucky to survive the constant threats of moving vehicles and dangerous machinery. Every day was about survival and she stayed hidden away to avoid the people and the scary noises they created.
The critical socialisation period for a cat is between 2 and 7 weeks of age. That's the time that they need to get the most handling and exposure to people and experiences, in a positive way, to shape them for the future. Because she missed out on that all important early handling, Roxette is still very wary of people. She has been in care for several months now - to begin with one of the staff took her home then she was handed on to SAFE. In this time Roxette has relaxed a great deal with the people she knows. She will take food from an out-stretched hand, play with a toy on a string and eat happily while in our presence. She no longer hisses and lashes out when you come near. Roxette LOVES other cats and they make her happy. She loves to play and just hang out with any other cat she meets.
Roxette will never ever be a lap cat or a cat you can cuddle. She may never even be a cat you can really touch. We hope that someone will be willing to give her a chance, either to be a friend for your existing cat or perhaps you live on a property and need a cat to help manage your rodent population.
Roxette has all the bells and whistles - she's desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and parasite treated. We are simply asking for a donation towards her vet work if you are willing to take her on.
She will learn to trust you eventually and it will be an incredibly rewarding journey.
We know that somewhere out there, Roxette's perfect home exists. Please help us get her into it!

Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
