About Alaska ~ Shetland x Kelpie (on trial 18/11/17)
This gorgeous young lady is Alaska. She is a two and half year old Shetland x Kelpie with a beautiful nature.
Alaska has been a family dog who is great with kids, cats and pocket pets. She hasn’t been around many dogs before or socialised when young and is a bit frightened of them so would prefer to be an only dog. With slow introductions we feel she would gradually learn to be confident with other dogs as she is such a nice dog.
Alaska has had basic training and can sit, stay and come when called. She enjoys poking around the yard and will follow you around whenever you are outside. A great little companion! Alaska walks well on lead but a walking harness would be ideal. She loves a swim and enjoys getting out for an explore.
Alaska has previously been an outside only dog but since being in care has enjoyed being allowed inside with the family. She loves nothing better then a bit of a kip on her mat so Alaska will need to be included in family time when someone is home. She is bit shy to start with but when she gets to know you, loves a pat.
Alaska would suit a family with children 4 years +, a young couple or someone who is retired.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
